The
Improvisational Workshop:
Pepe
Serna has been teaching these improv classes to professionals from
all walks of life for over 40 years. His method takes you back to
a childlike way of playing games. Adults as well as children flourish
in this environment of discovery.
Pepe's
greatest joy is to plant the seed, fertilize, water, watch the plant
grow, blossom, and bear fruit-all in one afternoon. The most timid
of participants come out of their shells in this non-judgemental
environment. There is no right or wrong. The students will learn
to listen and get in touch with their inner core instincts where
everyone is equal.
Pepe's
methodology is motivating, fun and hands-on. Through improvisational
games, he introduces subjects of importance in their own lives.
Situations from their daily lives are posed as interpretive scenes
that they create from their own imaginations.
Workshop
topics range from light comedy to real life drama. An example could
be a scene in a courtroom where the consequences of breaking the
law are explored. Participants take on the roles of the perpetrator,
the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, jury, and parents. The
learning experience becomes personal. Lively discussions challenge
the participants to ask themselves how they could change the outcome
if they could.
